I discovered some scratches in the plastic panel underneath the steering column last night. I don't know how they got there, but wondered if anyone knew how to get them out. Some ArmorAll covers it up a bit, but they're still fairly visible. Are there any plastic polishing compounds that might work? They are not deep. Actually, more like scuff marks. Sort of looks like a kid put chalk marks on it.

Before messing with it, have the dealer attempt repair. If they screw it up, they have to replace the part. If they refuse to fix it, THEN you can mess with it. I had a similar flaw which is hidden by the door when closed, but I see it when I get in/out. The dealer used a toothbrush and some vinyl cleaner to pull the crud out of the vinyl grain.

Hope this helps.

2003snake - thanks for the link. Have you ever tried this for a scratch in plastic?

Harry - I have thought of taking it in, but I can't say for sure who put the scratches in. Still, it's not a bad idea to ask them if they can repair it. Thanks.
