I just got a Nikon D5000 and I am wondering how to get the videos on my computer to stay HD or if I am even shooting in HD on the camera. I checked the manual and I couldnt find much but my only guess is that I need an HDMI cable.

IDK how many people on here can help I just figured im on this forum why not try.

Have the same camera, I think it should stay HD but I've never really messed with the video part of it.

on the D90 its under menu> shooting menu> movie settings i know it defaulted to mid quality on mine at least. i have not messed with a D5000 but i would imagine the menus being close if not the same

I'm in the same boat, bought the D5000 this past summer and haven't really had the time to mess around with it or read up
