Mechanic is doing my valve guides and seals and he cannot get the harmonic balancer bolt off. Does he turn it to the left to loosen or is there something else he needs to do to get it off?

Thanks Guys

Not sure if he should be touching the car if he's asking that question :bored: but make sure you use a new bolt when it goes back together. That's a TTY bolt, do not re-use the old one

Thanks, yeah he is a good mechanic, but he is just being cautiuos because the bolt will not come out. He says the bolt has an arrow above it showing clockwise? I just got home, so I will look into it more.

He now knows it is counter clockwise to take it off. He just doesn't want to break it. Any help would be appreciated. He tried bumping it with the starter and breaker bar but it was lifting the whole car up.

First off that is not the harmonic balancer bolt, that is the supercharger pulley hub.

Secondly, you just stated what his problem is. The hub is left hand threaded which means it needs to be turned clockwise to loosen it.

Truth spoken above, the harmonic balancer bolt is under that hub (and that hub is left hand threaded so as to not spin off).

He should heat it with a propane torch first to release the thread holding stuff the factory uses on it. Then turn it clockwise to remove it. What you are actually turning is the inside of the factory pulley support assembly. But someone has removed everything but the center hub/threaded shaft assembly. Once he gets it off then he will be able to see the actual bolt that retains the harmonic balancer.
