Has anyone with the ORP had any starting troubles in the mourning? Put mine on last week and the pst 2 days has cranked a long time in the mourning and ran rough for about 15-20 sec then smoothed out. also heard a few big pops this mourning after the idle came down:??:

-What do you consider hard to start? Not fireing in one second? Or, takeing more than ten seconds?

-Get the YRFO update and most of the surging will be gone.

-Sounds like the linkage may need adjustment. If not this may be the signs of a much larger problem.

-What the hell is significant fuel usage and you do know your car burns fuel to move? You cannot judge fuel milage till about > 2000 miles. And how are you measureing.

-describe this in more detail

-You canot see where the leak is on a brand new engine?

With the ORP, the technician may not have tightened the O2 sensors properly, and they might be effecting the start. The big pops are just backfires due to the timing being very retarded after startup, I think. No biggie. Matt, sorry to hear about your problems. Sounds like a couple are not really isses(fuel/idle) but the shifter thing is a little weird. Oil leaks outside are easy, harder to pinpoint/repair on the inside. Good luck to both of you! E-

The way I drive I usually get 23-26 mpg, just took a long trip to Seattle area with the car so full of stuff I almost couldn't get myself in and got about 33-35 mpg. If you keep your foot out of it you'll be rewarded, I just can't do it myself...LOL

ORP is an off road pipe(in place of cat). the car cranks for about 10 sec before it will almost start. All sensors are tight (did it myself) and i am pretty sure i have the latest update. just reprogrammed it beginning of april but can check for any new ones at work tomarrow. guess i could ask the drive guys at work tomarrow. i know regular foci have updated fuel pumps (recall) but oasis shows my car is not involved

On the start issue try turning the key to the on position and leave it there for a two count. Then turn to the start position. Let us know if it helped.

If you had it programed in Apr. you should have the yrfo update. Once my car has been running for 2 to 5 mins there is no surging. So I guess I'm stumped.

What about the idle and the leak? You might want to check the valve cover, breather hose, and around the cam gears.

hard start= getting in the car turning over the key and the engine seems to need about 5-10 seconds before it starts. ( yeah look at your watch and then tell me it's not a long time. no new car should take that long to fire.)

update= i will check with the dealership about this. why would they not update this before selling the car. btw this is getting worse and worse. have not had the time to take it in thats why i have waited so long.

shifter problem= i shift normally into third sometimes and when i let the clutch out under normal driving conditions it pops out of gear.

significant fuel usage= 17 mpg at best so far. and i am measuring the normal way.:rollseyes

not idleing smoothly=after the car is warmed up it tends to jump around from about 700rpm to 1100 rpm at idle.

oil leak= no its coming from the back of the engine somewhere i just keep finding oil on the driveway after i move the car.i have not spent alot of time trying to figure it out as my mother in law had a stroke two weeks ago so we have been out and in for the past two weeks.

btw:have an appointment with the dealership in the morn to have these issues addressed.

My car has to crank over several times as well b4 it starts. Don't know if i'd say it 5-10 seconds..but it's more than I would think. Takes longer than my diesel did.

even though this is an old thread i still had a question. What are the loud pops from exactly? I have an orp and it had always popped while slowing down, or basically while the rpm's coming down (esp while car is cold). I assume the "pops" are there with or without the orp and the cat convt just muffled them. I think they sound pretty cool anyway
