I'm at 10 1/2 months since filling my eform1s. Guessing about 2-3 more weeks before approval based on numbers from NFA tracker.
Negative. There is no more requirement for CLEO sign off. But you do have to inform. Are you going to do as single owner, trust, LLC?Just making sure. If you're going to build a sbr, you buy the lower receiver and fill out the atf form 1 and send it in with the $200.
Also you need to get the form signed off by the chief of police or sheriff before sending it in?

Not the "best" way to do it (depending on circumstances). But the requirement for submission for SO, trust, and LLC are now the same (more or less). Is there no one in the event of your death that you would give the gun to?Single owner

The ability for multiple people to be in "possession" of the weapon. But it has it draw backs...all people in the trust must submit the required documentation for a new purchase (that's the biggest drawback). But you can add people to a trust in the future. Not so much as an SO.What's the advantage of the trust?

Does it speed up the atf form filing process at all? I'm single and an only child so that's why I was thinking single owner. The ability for multiple people to be in "possession" of the weapon. I went with a trust. At the moment I don't have any plans to purchase anymore NFA items. But I will add my sister and BIL as trustees once I get the items added to the trust.
For individual filing you still have to send a copy of the form 1 to the chief of police or sheriff.Either trust or individual submissions take the same amount of time. No way to get around the wait.
No need to inform any local authorities of the making of an sbr. Simply buy the lower on a 4473 and fill out a form 1 for the ATF.
On the form, you can YouTube how to fill it out correctly and can clear up a few things. Mostly gotta decided on a caliber, barrel length and overall length.
After that, send the lower out to be engraved and wait for the atf approval. The atf is pretty easy and nice to deal with. Any questions, just call them and they will get back to you.
I wouldn't get that lower because it is a "high shelf". If you're looking to buy a lower for your sbr make sure it's "low shelf" so you can put an RDIAS in it.Any lower receiver recommendations?

They're unicorns for sure...but why pigeonhole your sbr to not be FA capable? Is there such a thing as an RDIAS? I've never found one.
