VMP Upgrade. I think it is crazy how much the 17s are going for. I fortunately bought mine 3 years ago at 66% of the current market rate. I would have a hard time forking out $2800+ for a single firearm right now.

I'm looking at $2800-$3100 then $200 for MA compliance followed by the 6.25 sales tax. After all that I would still need to source mags.

VMP is looking to be a much better option. I already have 3 AR's, KelTec 2k and a bolt action Savage 308.

What are the pros and cons of an AK47?

Same as a Glock. They do what they're supposed to very effectively, but are very ugly while doing it.

Get a good quality one and you won't regret it. WASR's and crap of that nature are generally just that - crap. Much better to be had for not much more cost.

I'd say they are actually very attractive. AR's are the ugly purpose built modular weapon system.

The con is the stock sights. They are open notches with the rear sight distance of a pistol.

This is generally why they get blasted for accuracy. Several companies make iron sight solutions, and you can always mount an optic.

Also, the other question is what do you want in an AK? Are you looking for that classic Soviet Wood stock weapon? Or do you want an ultra modern tacti-cool system?

I went ahead and picked one up last night. I really just wanted to give one a try, I've never had an AK47 before.

What did you get?

A late model RAS47. They guy needed the money. I purchased the gun and about 1500 rounds of junk ammo for $600.

It came with: MFT Forend, MFT Stock, Rifle Dynamics AK to M4 stock adapter, AR Buffer Tube, Veriforce Tactical Charging Knob, Midwest Industries QD Scope Rail, Magpul MOE Grip, Magpul RTV Foregrip and 7 Magpul magazines.

RAS47 is a cheapie that MSRP is $699. Buds lists them for $630 cash.

You have a few hundred bucks in rails, furniture and accessories there.

Is that a Bushnell optic?

I'll be fun and you'll be able to cash out 100% if you want.

Customer: I would really like those free oil changes for the life of the vehicle, and the key replacement insurance. Anyway you can knock off that $600 from the total?

13COBRA: No freebies here, Jack, but you can trade me something in return for the $600.

Customer: How about an RAS47 with some Magpul furniture and other tactical ninja stuff for it?

13COBRA: Sold. Just sign right here...........

I like It. The price is good. It has quite a bit of adjustability as well
