Guage cluster prob

My girl has a 2000 6cyl mustang and the complete cluster went out on it yesterday. Can I just buy a used one off ebay and slap it in? Someone told me something needed to be recoded??? Thanks in advance

you can but idk if it will read the correct mileage on it, I think there is a module or something inside of the old one that you need to switch out.

You can swap the cluster, but you'll need to switch the chip inside the cluster first. It is held in with two bolts and is what the odometer display is attached to.
