That track is a dive. Unless it has changed, it is an outlaw track and isn't sanctioned because it doesn't meet safety standards. You can see the single-rail guard rail. NHRA hasn't allowed that since about 1990. Those trees are literally within 10' of the track. Spectators used to be within 5' of the track the first 1/8 mile and then they were a whole 10' off the track. The shutdown actually curves because it is too short on the straight section.

Terrible for the family. RIP.

God that's horrible. Can't believe how close that track is to the trees. Others who race said they would never track their car there. I can see why. Reminds me of surfing where you're told/warned not to surf near the pier.
