Not sure if you are referring to me, but the guy who did my install did this on the side. He has another full time job.
I have about 500 miles on them now and they do whine more than when new, but still nothing like the 3.73s did. I did buy a 12" x 12" x 1/8" sheet of lead and taped some strips to the lower control arms in an attempt to dampen vibration between the body and housing, but that didn't seem to help much at all. The only time I hear any whine is when accelerating between 50-60 mph. I expected this to happen, and it is still much better than the 3.73s ever were. I wish I had more time to play with my ideas to dampen that whine, but now the car either has a bad PCM, bad ground, or a slew of CAN bus problems that must be addressed. I have a separate thread on that. I'm reaching car in open field with flame thrower levels of frustration.
I have the same upper and did notice the noise increase at highway speeds. Not a ton but noticeable.
