The recent news regarding the new V6 Mustang having dual exhaust, 6-speed, 160mph speedo, and 305 hp, got me interested to see what the current V6s out there sound like with an aftermarket exhaust. I even took a look at what the new Camaro V6s sound like with an aftermarket exhaust (anything from a catback, to headers). I didn't find anything out there that I really liked. Most of the videos and clips just didn't sound that great. Are there any examples out there to give me hope? :shrug:

Any of the new high output domestic six cylinders are going to sound similar or equivalent to a 350Z's exhaust note. They just are what they are I guess.

Yeah it's not looking or sounding good at the moment. My only hope is that the new V6 will have a different sound to it. Nothing beats the sound of a V8, but still....
I have heard some of the new 370Zs, and I think they sound great with some of the aftermarket exhausts out there...but the new V6s I've heard on American cars so far don't sound like that.

Agreed, I was just meaning to say that the newer domestic six cylinders have an "importish" type exhaust note compared to past models.
Definitely...I see what you were saying...I just wish they had a little more bite to them....it may be back to the V8s in the long run for me...
overhead cam motors generally sound crisper than overhead valve
The only domestic V6 worth hearing is..........

Agree 100%....see even that TL has a clean/crisp sound to it.

I've never heard a V6 that I thought sounded good. Some sound mean, but not necessarily good. There may be hope if a set of headers was built that joined the two banks together like the old school 180 degree headers on V8's, but at best it may sound like an inline 6 instead of a V6.
