Agreed. I've been ass-deep in Mustangs in Charleston, SC for 6 years now and I've never heard of him. Doesn't mean it's not quality or inexperienced, but may be new to the area. DSS has a good product and stands by their work. The trucking company they used to ship my new shortblock dropped it out of the truck on my driveway, broke the timing chain and bent the crank snout. I sent DSS a picture and they sent another that day. Would buy from them again.

Id give them a call if I were you man, its about 6-700 more I agree, but the last motor i got from them they included the shipping, which is close to $500 depending on how far you are.

Also www.theengineshop.com is a great place, and you can pickup if you want they are right over the bridges into long island from manhatten.

What kind of rods and pistons are in the DSS 347 you listed?

Something about that ebay auction you listed does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

FWIW, I rebuilt my engine with Ross forged pistons, Eagle H beam rods, canton STEEL girdle, and matching canton 7 qt pan. Including machine work (balance, .030 overbore, line honing, and zero decking the block) I have around $2400 in my shortblock

Nope, not a good deal.

That's a .040 over stock block with a stock crank and stock rods with cheap forged pistons. The heads are decent, and the cam's decent, and that's about it.

Although I'll admit, I ran mid 10's and made over 620 whp with a shortblock identical to that (except I built it for MUCH less), but it had stock GT40 cast iron heads and an "F" cam.
