general tips for faster quarter mile time please

In have a 93 mustang with 5.0 motor.
I am running street tires

What should i do to bring down my 60' time from a 2.2 to a 2.0
Also what Rpm do you guys recommend i should shift at with 373 gears?

tires do wonders.
they put a whole new meaning to racing.
you would probably drop 1/2 sec with just tires.

im not sure where your car redlines but i know with the 99-03 cobras the power tends to drop off about 1000rpm before redline.
so some times going all the way to redline hurts you more than helps.
but that is different with everycar.

my car redlines at 5800 rpm's
that where some people tell me where to shift at and others say to shift at5500 so im not sure where ill probably try both next time at the track and see works out

Better tires, more power, weight reduction, upgraded stall converter or clutch, upgraded suspension, more RPM's, and better gearing all contribute...

once you get tires and are hooking up a drag racing tip is removing the from sway bar to allow to front suspension to rise to tranfer the weight

find out what your peek hp and torqu is and try to feel where the car begins to really fall off and that is where you should shift. its all about feel. i shift my cobra at 6200-6400 and i still have another 1000pms to go. i would also think about some drs or slicks and practice all the time. if you have time to kill then go out one day/night and practice hooking up from a stop. get a feel of how the car reacts with 3/4s and full throttle.
