I have a totally stock 99 cobra. I want to get new gears. I toped it out at 152mph so my question is if I get 4.56's will it still be ok for a street car? Will I still be able to reach 150mph? Finally anyone know good shop to do install in minnesota. Thanks inadvance

umm u sure its stock cuz i can go 155mph in 4th gear with the stock 3.27's so i think u allready got some gears in there...
Its stock I guess i shouldn't of said topped out. I was in 4th then shifted to 5th and it took forever to gain more speed.
ok, now that we got that cleared. yes, you will be able to hit 150 still with 4.56 gears. actually at 6800 rpm's in 5th gear you will be going 169 mph. whether or not air resistance allows that is another story. do some searching as far as 4.56's being good for street. there are quite a few who run them. the majority run 4.10's or 4.30's. i love my 4.10's, though i could see going 4.30 if i went to the track all the time. personally, i would think 4.56 would be too much.....but that's just me. i'm sure more will chime in w/ their opinions as well. either way, have fun with the new gears when you get them! :beer:
Go with the 4.56, seems like a few guys with 4.30's are going to the 4.56's. I think this summer that I am going to have a set of 4.56's installed..........maybe 4.88's?

With 4.30's and 4.56's you should be able to top out 5th gear even with a stock powered Cobra. This is what I've heard anyway.
