gear install questions

ok guys i will be doing the gears on my car this weeknd... i have a couple sets of intructions...but they are really vague. and there is one in the how to but i wish it had pics and a litttle more in detail... does anyone have a nice pictured....or just really detailed write up on this??? thanks guys.

Assuming you've never done this before, I wouldn't attempt it. Sorry I don't have the answer you're lookin for.

good luck with the install. taking the rear end apart is pretty straight foward installing and degreeing the gears is whats scares me.

I think there was a really good writeup on this with pictures on corral.net. I have it saved on my computer at home and it is what I use when I do gears.

Do you have access to a magnetic base dial indicator? or are you going the prussian blue route?

yup i have a dial indicator. i was just looking for a nice write up for any help.i liek to get a few sets of intructions. and advice before i do anything.

Just did mine. Not really that hard if you have the right tools. One thing bit me that I never caught in any writeups or instructions - - the rear pinion race does not sit flush with the housing, it sits deeper than you would think. Kept throwing off my pinion depth.

how hard will it be to put the new bearings in ....will i have to go put it on a press?

I stuck the pinion and the differential in the freezer for a couple of hours and put the bearings in the oven at around 200 degrees for a little bit and they slipped right on with no problems.
