My car has been sitting for almost a month now and will be for for awhile.
Car has about 4-5 gallons of gas in the tank.
Question......is it safe to add a gas stabilizer to the gas?
Will it cause any type of problem once i get it back running?
Thanks for any help.

IMHO, the most important factor in preventing gas from going bad is to fill the tank to the top with fresh fuel, to keep air and oxygen out. Have stored my Vette over 13 winters that way, and never had any fuel problems depite not using stabilizer. Most degradation of fuel is oxygen dependent.

My car sits for 3 to 4 months at a time with no problems at all.

PhillyCobra is right, just fill the tank and the gas will not go bad.
