The larger the rotor, the greater the weight. 13" OEM Cobra rotors weigh 19#. These 14" rotors are 25#. 15" Shelby rotors found on the 2013-14 GT 500's weigh over 32#. The rotating mass and unsprung weight trade-off is well worth it upgrading from a 13" 2 piston floating PBR caliper to a 14" 4 piston fixed caliper. This kit was put together as a very affordable option to 'fix' the 'barely adequate' OEM caliper that came as original equipment on Cobra models. The 13" Y2K Brembo kit is absolutely better than the OEM brakes BUT it's still only 13" which is the same 'leverage' as the OEM brakes. The leverage differential between a 13" kit and a 14" kit is what makes the difference with this kit. The rotors are readily available. We are working on a 2 pc bolt together street set that will be approximately 19.75#. There will also be a lightweight set available at about 18# which is 1# lighter than the 13" OEM rotor. That's the good news, the bad news is 2 pc rotors are a lot more expensive than 1 pc rotors. The 2 pc rotors will run in the $750.00 range per pair which adds considerable cost to the price of the kit. We may also make 2 pc 'floating' rotor sets depending on how popular the 2 pc bolt together rotors are. They will be slightly lighter than the bolt together sets but they will be more expensive. We hope that helps.
