Fuel pump question

So I was cruising down the highway tonight, and the car shut off. Pulled over and noticed no fuel pump noise when turning key on. Found a blown fuel pump fuse. I have the non programmable vortec bap. It had the correct 30amp fuse. Been running fine for years. What would cause the fuse to all of a sudden blow while cruising along in 6th gear under minimal to no load?
I replaced the fuse and it drove completely normal afterwards.

That's my guess. I just found it odd to happen while cruising along at 80 on a nice smooth highway. Had me freaking out that it might happen again leaving work in morning rush hour traffic, but it's been running perfectly normal since.
