I know I didn't buy a GT500 because of the fuel economy but is 10.5 mpg normal ? I have about 100 fairly easy miles on the car ( mixed highway and around town) and I'm averaging 10.5 mpg...is it because the engine is new and tight ? Will this mileage get better ??

I got about 11.2 for the first 120 miles than it went to 19 on the freeway and 12.9 around town. I have 1200 miles on her now and it seems to have stayed the same.

normal....if you want to save more gas around town shift at lower rpm's and cruise in a higher gear such as 4th...however like many of us here, we actually like to drive and sometimes with some gusto....so I average between city and freeway about 17mpg, maybe....:burnout:

Just made a trip from Florida to Calif. and back and averaged 20 mpg and it was a blast driving to and from. Did get it up to 130 on a long road somewhere on instate 10, could have got it higher but the pucker factor got me and had to back it down. :dancenana::dancenana:

I think it's how you drive it.
When I first got it, I was getting 8 and the rubber was always warm and Smokin'.
Don't beat it as much and now getting 14.9.

I get a combined 17-18 mpg at 1500 miles, just about at par with my CX9 DD. I noticed the mileage went up consistently after the first 4-500 miles.

Done trip where you were purposely light footed to see what mpg the beast can do?
Easy accelerations and cruising in the 60s.
Did same freeway drive in 97 V8 Tbird; once at 60 and once at 70. Difference was 4 mpg.
Best ever light footed freeway mpg in 2005 Corvette was 29.5
Best ever hwy mpg in 1959 Cadillac was 17.5
Is rated hwy 24mpg obtainable ?

I just got 21.1 and 21.2 over the 1000 mile round trip I took over the weekend.

That was at about 80mph for 300+ miles and 55-65 mph for 200 miles

I've noticed the computer being slightly off (it takes less fuel then it says). I've seen it say 23.1 on a trip but doing the math it was closer to 23.7

5.5 MPG

It's more like gallons per mile for me.............

Between reflashing the car and going to the track my MPG calculator is cross eyed. I can fill up and it will say 180 miles to empty. LOL

Understand I've done a few WOT pulls on road courses and a number of sessions so it throws it off quite a bit and the averages go to crap. But I figured 5.5 MPG all on 98 octane at $8.75 Per Gallon would make most of you laugh!

Van, money well spent - I got a laugh on my 2011 of resetting the fuel computer for my track day - 98 octane - 5.5 mpg worth every penny

I checked mine driving it back from Maine and was averaging above 20 MPG. I haven't looked at it since and figure if you worry about MPG you probably aren't driving it right.

I've got around 2000 miles and I get about 16 mpg. I don't really monitor the way I drive. Most of the time I'm getting on it when I have to accelerate, so that's not too bad.

I have read that you shouldn't even bother checking it for the first 2000 miles as it will take that long to get broken in and give you the MPG you can normally expect to receive. I just drove 800+ miles yesterday in my Roush RS3 and when I left i had 200 miles on the car, by my 3rd tank I had gone from 18.2 to 22.3 and that was at 85 average with some 120+ long stretches mixed in. My Shelby I have not even checked yet, it has about 650 miles on it. I just spoke to Justin at VMP and he drove from FL to MI and he averaged 20 MPG in his at an easy pace.
