My friend has a 2002 montero that moved from Tacoma, WA to Denver, CO and her car doesn't seem to have the power that it did in WA. She has to have the peddle all the way down to the floor to get it to go. She's wondering why, what she needs to do to get it fixed and how much it'll cost. Please can someone help.

She said she got a tune up and oil change before she left. Once she was in Utah, it started to happen. Pretty much the power is less then it was when she was in Tacoma.

its the elevation... Denver is a mile above see level.... you could try and go to the dealer and see if they can flash the computer, maybe they have a different tune for the car up their.

yeah elevation. I'm moving from Hampton, VA which is only a few hundred in elevation to Colorado Springs which is over 6K ft. Everyone says you need a new tune, blah, blah, blah but the honest truth is that's what your MAF is for. Any good tuner's tune will be able to adjust for the higher elevation. Multiple tuners say once you reach 10K ft then you'll have some issues but if it's done right it's then you're good unless not fuel injection. Factory vehicles not modified have no issues and your tune should be the same. Make it run like a raped ape in CO and you'll blow doors off in most other states.
