LiveLeak.com - School bus surveillance camera records accident
Something strange was that there was a pedestrian on the driver's side of the mustang prior to it pulling out. Like the mustang wanted to get away from him.
The bus, taking students home from Blaine High School, was southbound in the left lane of University Avenue about 2:45 p.m. when a car in the turn lane to go westbound on TH 610 pulled out and was struck by the bus.
According to Sgt. Jon Urquhart, Coon Rapids Police, the side of the bus struck the passenger side of the car.
The bus driver had no chance to stop, Urquhart. The car pulled out without signaling.
The passenger in the car, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the driver, a 19-year-old man, was not hurt.
Nor was the school bus driver, a 38-year-old man.
According to Coon Rapids Deputy Police Chief Tim Snell, the driver of the car had been involved in a road and driving altercation with the driver of another vehicle in the left-turn lane before pulling out.
The driver of the other car left after the accident without giving information, Snell said.
But the driver has been located by police and spoke to, Urquhart said.
The bus was traveling at or below the posted speed limit and the car, as it was pulling out of the turn lane, was not going very fast, he said.
According to Sarah Schwartz, Anoka-Hennepin School District 11 communications specialist, all the students on the bus were transported back to Blaine High School and parents were called to pick them up from the school.
No charges have yet been filed in connection with the incident, Urquhart said.
