For an open bypass, do you put a screen over the end?

Thinking about running my bypass to atm. Seems like the open hole should be covered with something (even tho there is either a ton of air coming out or the bypass is closed). I would hate it if a snake went up into the system.

Damn snakes get everywhere. And if it is not them it is mice.
Now I'm thinking that when the car is off, there is no vacuum so the bypass should be closed. That would still allow nests to be made in tubing. Once the car is back on the animals would be shot out the bypass.

I've had mine open for about a year with no problems. I did find a nest under my intake when I removed the alternator though. It had to have been there a while since I had been daily driving my car for about 2 years.
