Damnit, I didn't know they had a speed limiter. I hit it on the way back from Christmas vacation in FL. It sucks that little car had so much more to give.
I totally agree that sucks......My '99 Escort has the same limit....defintely thinking about a chip, but then again I'm also going to buy the Focus SVT when it arrives.

The reason they do this (just in case you wondered why)is because of the speed rating of your tires. I don't think the SVT will have this limit. Do you Focus guys have any chip vendors for your motors. I'd imagine the new SVT focus will really make tuning takeoff quickly. I gotta' good feeling about what's in store for that baby. Can't wait to see some turboed, SC'd ones at the drags to start kickin' some rice ass!
Yup, there is a Superchip as well as a Diablochip... Both have their ups and downs... Ups being they take off the limiter, downs being they dont do much else, unfortunately.. A lot of work needs to be done to these things before Ill spend the money on one..

Thunderbirds (or at least the 4.6L 5.0L and 3.8LN/A) had speed limiters around 105 due to tires and driveshaft drawbacks. Ford puts them there for a reason. Get a better set of tires and a chip and you can go faster than 110 all day long.
That's what I did and I had my Thunderbird radared (not by a cop) at 141. I don't know how accurate that is.. give or take.. my speedo only registers 120.

I have a limiter of 108 on my Cav BUT there is a way to by-pass it w/out a chip. Personally, I never bothered to do it but if you're interested let me know and I'll search for the instructions. Yeah, I know, 2 differents rides but it may give you something to go on. Grant it, the chip will still probably be your SAFEST & surest bet.
