(FL500s Substitute) Amsoil EAO17 = FRAM FE10575

I came across a video last night while perusing BITOG researching oil filters, I was wondering if anyone else had seen this.

I currently run an Amsoil EAO17 filter on my Mustang which from the factory takes a FL500S, same as our two coyote f150's. Apparently Amsoil filters are made by Champion Labs in the USA, same as the Fram Endurance filter. A channel on youtube did a teardown of both filters side by side and they are pretty much the exact same filter, except the Fram is 12.97 at walmart while the Amsoil filter is 22.55 or 17.60 with the yearly preferred customer membership.

I'm going to go hunt down a couple of these Frams tomorrow as I'm doing an oil change on both trucks and wanted to try something other than the FL500S (seems a lot of Purolator based filters have gone to shit QC wise post-pandemic).

Didn't know if anyone else had tried these or was interested in trying a better filter than the standard motorcraft one, filters 99% & 20 microns with a synthetic media.

That would be my choice.

IMO, it looks like Amsoil has just moved to Fram's design standards. Fram has definitely improved that particular filter over the rest of their lineup.

I was trying to stay away from anything Purolator / Mann & Hummel made. Apparently opinions on the WinXP filters range from "its fine" to "its only good as a rock catcher"

That would be my choice.

Well, popped one on the 2016 F150 and one on the 2019, put 2 more on the shelf for the future. Maybe I'll get a oil filter cutter and open these up in 5000 miles just for a look

I stay away from Fram, Wix is my usual go to. Ford Motorcraft is another that I'll use.

Wix is only like 50% efficient at 20 micron versus 99% on the Amsoil and Fram Endurance.

Impressive numbers, especially considering that was a Wix XP. It would be nice if Motorcraft switched to glass media.

Well If you don't want to use FRAM instead of the EAO17 from the OP, this Baldwin filter is 50% at 9.8 micron and 99% at 27 micron.

You can use the WIX filter cross reference tool and then take the WIX numbers to the Donaldson and Baldwin sites.
