I searched and didn't really find what I'm looking for. My front bumper has seen better days with rock chips destroying it and the famous license plate frame scratch and holes. I want to FILL the holes and sand everything down so there is minimal prep work for the paint shop. My question is does anyone have any experience with different products and what works best with our bumpers?

I'm familiar with how to do everything, but just curious on brands and products.

Before anyone asks...I do not want the bumper plugs.

Thanks.

bumper plugs are gay. see below.

check out these videos, pretty decent instructions for a weekend warrior. I would sand with 180 and finish with 320 skip 80 unless it is absolutely necessary. Most of the body shops I go to use the 3m bumper repair stuff.
If it is a hole through the bumper you will need to patch it. Go by a local paint supply store and they will get you all lined out. My guess is it will actually be cheaper to pay the shop to fix it and paint it for you since depending on how bad your bumper is you can get it fixed for $500-$700, which would include repair/refinish, and all r&i. Paint supply store will set you back close to $100.00-$150.00 and you will still have to get it refinished which will be around $300-$400. Bumpers are actually easy to fix if you have the stuff already. First time you buy all the crap and it adds up.

to fix the cosmetic scratches and gouges use this. http://www.amazon.com/3M-EZ-SAND-FL...330583&sr=8-1&keywords=3m+bumper+repair+05887

for fixing holes in the bumper watch the video on this page. it has all the part numbers and everything you will need.

good luck with it either way.

This is what my body guy said has to be done. He said you have to melt new plastic in the holes then clean it up. He said though you have to get the correct plastic or it will just pop out and not fuse with the bumper plastic  Maybe this helps you out maybe it doesn't? best of luck

They sell plastic welding kits that do melt plastic in the hole, but the 3m stuff will work perfect without any problems and will cost him less in the long run. the 3m stuff is tried and true and most shops offer lifetime warranties on this stuff. save yourself any headaches and use the 3m stuff or pay a shop to fix it for you.
