Just out of curiosity id like to know the final production numbers for all the colors and years. Or for the '03 DSG's to be exact, but all would be nice just to compare which are the most rare colors for each year.
Im sure this has been covered before, so if someone would be kind enough to post a link id appreciate it.
Thanks
BRad

2000 - 4,966 Total; Black 1,596; Red 1,405; White 928; Silver 1,037

2001 - 6,381 Total; Black 1,908; Red 1,722; White 1,170; Silver 1,581

2002 - 4,726 Total; Black 1,198; Red 1,086; White 294; Silver 1,018; True Blue 1,130

2003 - 4,270 Total; Black 1,036; Red 735; White 606; Grey 1,170; Sonic Blue 723

2004 - 3,781 Total; Black 843; Red 648; White 428; Grey 648; Sonic Blue 596; Silver 618

Total Production: 28,124 Lightnings. The numbers don't quite add up though. If you add them up it comes out to 28,097 total.

ive looked at that actually.
so in '03 they didnt offer silve L's?

hmm, i thought the DSG's were the rarest, or at least "one of the" rarest colors.

the dark silver you are referring to is DSG or Dark Shadow Grey.

The silver you are referring to is, well, silver. It's a light color whereas DSG is a dark color.

judging by those numbers, i cant believe that red of all colors is the rarest, for all the L's i see are either red or blue, then comes silver and black. i thought white or DSG were the least common, cause ive never even seen a DSG in real life, other than the one ive looked into buying.

EDIT: so lsu, from what throttle jockey posted it seems as though they didnt offer "silver" in '03, only DSG. So does this indeed confirm that the DSG isnt nearly as rare as i thought?

The rarest in order are True Blue, Sonic Blue, then DSG. Here's a better chart from another website that has the combined Gen 1/2 numbers.

True Blue was only one year. Too bad Ford had to make Sonic Blue in '04 too. Then Sonic would be the lowest production color and the fastest color.

I am looking at an 04 White L right now, better not tell them it's a low production number.

Call 1-800-FORD-SVT and give them your VIN # and they will tell you the production #, if you give them $50 they will send you an SVT Production Cert.

I have a friend here who owns a Sonic Blue Lightning. It was because of his Lightning that gave me the idea of buying my Lightning. He told me it was a 2002. I told him the chart says Sonic Blue's are 2003-2004. He said it must be wrong.

I just went to his house and checked the driver's door jamb information plate. Sure enough…manufacture date is May 2002, just like mine. Except mine is a True Blue and his is Sonic Blue.

Any explanations?
