There has been a lot of discussion on this subject here lately and varied opinions on the two options. The fender system offers cooler intake charge at the expense of a smaller filter and extended distance from filter to MAF......with the underhood open system just opposite, SO, does it make sense that the main problem with the open element (hot fan wash, etc) could be greatly relieved with completely opening up the hood vents (ala postban's treatment) and allowing the underhood heat to escape easier? Those vents are really large and the heat would be pulled out much faster IMO making it cooler under there. It seems to me that makes sense, even the removal of the blanket seems logical for heat extraction.......jeesh, the Lightning doesn't have a blanket and no hood vents and the open element works fine and the paint is not affected on the hood........ Just need some input.

Just take a look at what the quickest and fastest guys are running on this board. It's some variation of a LARGE underhood open element filter.

#1 Remove blanket

#2 Install Amazon intake

#3 Install plastic hose from fog light intake to hole in fender well

#4 Enjoy best of both worlds
