Fatal Accident at MIR

"A car crash at Maryland International Raceway was reported on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at 12:20 p.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed a race car driven by a 48 year old male rolled several times, ejecting the driver.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene."

Very sad indeed. He died doing what he most likely loved to do the most.

My wife told me about this yesterday. Prayers go out to him and his family.

We have a fun but dangerous hobby. I have been at the road course when a fellow driver has lost his life, as well as several taken to the hospital in an ambulance. I made sure before I got to far into auto sports to have plenty of life insurance to ensure my family was financially secure. I hope it never gets used but I hope anyone else in this hobby enters it prepared for the worse. It can happen to any of us. My thoughts go out to that mans family.
