So im looking for a little more growl from my 01... which would be best to do first for sound? offroad x or a stingers catback? i'd wait until i can do both in one hit but that would be awhile and the stock exhaust is killing me!

I had the Stingers on a stock H pipe. They sounded pretty good. The O/R is going to be really, really loud with the Stingers. I put cats back on my car to quiet it down.

Have you thought about any other brand? I have the bassani catback and it sound great with the stock h pipe. Then I put the off road h on and it sounds amazing! But that's just an opinion.

If your just worried about the sound do the cat back first for sure. If you want to add a bit of power with a bit of sound do a O/R X pipe. Id stay with the stinger or even the attk if you want it really loud.
