We took a Stock 2012 BOSS 302 Mustang and did a couple baseline pulls on the dyno and it made 367RWHP and 328RWTQ.

On a side note: We have a Mustang 1100-SE Loaded Dyno, which typically reads 5-7% less then a Dyno Jet. The only thing that matters are the gains over the baseline.

We then Installed a Magnaflow Off Road X-Pipe, Borla S-Type Catback Exhaust System, and a JLT Plastic Cold Air Intake to help the car breathe a little better.

No Mustang would be complete without loading one of our custom tunes for the 2012 BOSS 302 Mustang, which was developed on our In-House Dyno and has a lot of changes made to the Ti-VCT to make up for the low end torque loss the BOSS has because of the Intake Manifold.

The end result was a Peak Gain of 33RWHP and 32RWTQ.

Evolution Performance, Inc. Custom Tuned SCT X3’s and Cold Air Intake/SCT X3 Packages are available for the 2012 BOSS 302 Mustang!

Where is the green lined run?

The green line run is on the graph, that's the lines that are showing improment! I used the green color in the description and line graph because using green can show the slight differences on the screen in the lower RPM were their close, when tuning on the dyno. I ended up switching it for the graph it's self because it didn't look good visually on the graph.

I have some questions, and I'll admit in advance that I really don't know how much goes into tweaking the tunes...

Why were you able to pull more TQ and HP out of almost everywhere on the curve, except for 2400~3200 RPM range? What is the limiting factor there?
Or will we see this "issue" resolved given more time with the cars on the road / dyno?

Also, how much is there to be gained without actually performing any mods? I always hear about the baseline, and then parts start getting swapped, but I never hear about tweaking a stock car.

One more. When you changed the exhaust, did that require removing the whole "quad pipe" setup? And how much did that change the cars sound that so many ppl are raving about?

Thanks!

This is great! I'm glad the after market is already tweaking the BOSS. I would like to see Magnaflow or anyone come out with a BOSS specific H/X - pipe because I really don't want to give up the quad pipes.

And yes I really would like to see a tune on a stock car before the bolt on's go on.

I ordered AR long tubes for mine. And am thinking of going with the Bassani cat back and cutting and welding the factory side pipes to it.

As far as tune goes what is Evolution tuning the BOSS with? Cause talking to other tuners they do not have software from SCT to tune the car yet.

How were we tuning the the 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L 4V back on May 8th, 2010 when SCT didn't have support until Mid-June..... ;-)

We dont use the sct software,we write our own tunes.

but you use the Advantage to write the tunes if you're selling SCT flashers for the Boss, right? that's what I ment with SCT Software.

anything other then writing own tunes doesn't work anyway IMO

I was under the impression the Boss was more powerful, but these #'s look about the same as the GT's if anything a little less.

X3 i would think this would eliminate the use for the trac key all together. Maybe the trac key was fords way of trying to the corner the market with changes in the tune configurations to keep peeps from going with an alternate custom tune.

You can't look at nubers form different dynos. The importance is in the delta between the baseline and the modded curve.

the boss 302s was dyno'd for world challenge competition at 404whp. the race engine tune is the trackey tune. i am sure epi's work is outstanding, but i would certainly wait for the final factory tune to be available before i started messing with the programming and the equipment.

Bump!! I was wondering about that quad CB exhaust, does it still work with LT headers with matching mid pipe??
