Silent Civilian just posted a rough demo track from their upcoming album Ghost Stories that will drop in October of this year. They are definitely a lesser known band, but their debut effort Rebirth of the Temple is one of my top 5 albums of all time.

Vocals are somewhat screamy, but it's mixed with regular singing. Guitar work is absolutely awesome. Precise, clear solos in every song, great melodies...amazing. Drums are ridiculous.

Head over to Silent Civilian ~NEW SONG UP~ on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads to check out the new track Last One Standing as well as 3 tracks from their last album.

I highly recommend. Great success!!

I'll have to listen to it on the other computer with the Klipsch speakers. My laptop sucks ass for the sound. Slayer is my favorite metal band though. It's hard to top them.

You are a die hard Metallica fan like myself, therefore I trust your opinion. I will check them out.

Good band imo. Another SVT member mentioned in a music thread last year, so I gave them a listen. I like the songs I've heard from the. Rebirth Of The Temple, Bitter Pill, Live Again, This Song Remains Unamed, and Wrath are the only songs I've heard by them.

Also, Like mentioned above, Slayer owns.

And Mastadon, Mastadon owns aswell.

Wow. Thanks for posting this, I'm ordering the 06 album off Amazon right now. This is the kind of metal I like... fits right in with Trivium's Ascendancy (One of my favorite albums from the last ten years); great guitar work (love the two-guitar harmonies), screaming that sounds legitimately pissed off with good clean melodic breaks, and good drumlines.

Any more suggestions along these lines are appreciated. ;)

Listening to it currently and the single Rebirth of the Temple sounds pretty awesome.

Very Killswitch Engage-esque.

They fit in the genre as newer Killswitch I agree. Makes me miss the old KsE though :( . If you like this genre type you can check out God Forbid, very KsE like, a bit heavier though, has clean vocals mixed with some screams. Parkway Drive is another one to check out, there ok, were good in concert last year, I believe there an Aussie band, could be thinking of another band though.

And Mastadon still kicks ass, check out "Divinations" ooh it is sick!

Also another band you can check out is Everytime I Die. Put on a great show and there guitarist seems like a cool dude, definately has a different look to him. He looks like a comedian but I cant think of his name.

And to stay on topic, Silent Civilian is good, like them better than Trivium by far. Might go and pick up there album (ROTT).

Not bad at all. I am a huge fan of their vocalist old band (spineshank) so I can hear some of that sound in this. I'll probably end up getting this CD when it drops

Oh and Mastodon is a great band as well

I had forgotten all about these guys, after reading about them here and liking what I heard. Listening again, this time to "Last One Standing" and I'm still liking it. This isn't normally a style I like; I spent the mid to late 90s hating anything remotely "numetal" and was all about prog and power metal.

I need to buy me some Silent Civilian. But wait, the new album doesn't come out until October? WTF?

Not too shabby. I cant wait till bands go back to micing drumkits vs playing samples though. The Andy Sneap style production is getting old to me.

and yes Mastodon freakin rocks!!

I'm not a fan of Spineshank, but they are working on a new album as well.

Sucks it's so long, but if you research the drama and lineup changes this damn band has gone through, you'd be surprised as hell they are putting out an album and even more surprised it sounds good.

Can you elaborate? My buddy at work said this sounds like a drum machine, but then when you hear someone like Jordison rock out like, it seems possible that Chris Mora is just that awesome.

Not bad. Thanks for the heads up. But being an avid Slayer fan sucks, because it always seems like something is missing from every other Metal band out there lol.

Good stuff!
It's hard to find good metal these days, well not hard, but with myspace came 1,000s of terrible metal bands... so to have something good out there is nice.
Very close to the current hardcore scene KSE, ATR, Unearth, etc...
If the rest of thier album is this good, then they may be a band I have to see.
