Ok,,Just got done doing my install of my new 9500ci that I picked up yesterday from Escort themselves up in Cincy. Met John Larson also which was pretty cool.

Anyway, everything is in and during power up I'm getting "Lsr R N/A". According to the book, there is a problem with the rear receiver. Could it be bad right out of the box? The radar seems to work as I passed a LEO and it alerted from the rear as I went by. I cut and re-crimped the connector on 2-3 time just to make sure it was good, still the same outcome "Lsr R N/A". I know I'm crimping good as the front gear was all cut and re-crimped with new ends and they are working.

Going to call in the AM, but thought I would post on here tonight to get some thoughts.

Thanks

It's got to be the receiver, the wires or the connection. Also check the interface module to make sure that you plugged the rear sensor wire into the right place.

The radar working isn't related to your rear sensor at all. The rear sensor is for LIDAR only. You also have two front LIDAR sensors as well as the single radar receiver up front (which will pick up scatter when shot with radar from the rear as well). You probably already knew this, but I figured I would throw it in just in case.

Good luck getting the rear sensor working.

Thanks,

The module is color coded and labeled, I've plugged and unplugged numerous times, new connectors and all,, still no go for the rear. I'm calling tech in the morning and see what I can get resolved, road trip to corporate to fix it, take it to the source.

Ky GT500, the Passport 9500ci kit looks like it would be a PITA to install (running wires front to cabin and rear to cabin). Could you please comment on how you felt the installation was? What was the hardest/most time consuming part, and how long it took you to complete installation (sans the problem you are experiencing currently)?

I am mechanically and electrically inclined, but I would appreciate any comments you would care to share about the difficulty of installation, and any tips/tricks from your experience you would care to share.

Thanks!

Wasn't really difficult at all. I took more time with it as I did all that I could do to hide/blend, the wires in the engine bay. It was also my own car so I put thought into routing the wires and such. Even with all the overthinking I did on my part, I still installed it in the 6-8 hour time frame.

When you open the box and start getting all the individual pieces out and lay them on the table, it looks like a lot of stuff and can be a bit intimidating. The install manual is very good and walks you through step by step the sequence of parts to put in.

There was no real PITA moments, as I routed wires where I wanted/needed them. From engine bay, there is a unused firewall plug under the brake booster that I ran the two jammers and one radar wire through. I did remove the radiator cover to better see the route for the front wires. In the rear for the jammer/radar unit, drilled a hole behind the license plate in the plastic and fished the wires through and into the trunk via a grommet on the bottom left of spare tire well, with a wire already coming into the trunk, just removed the factory electrical tape, pushed wire up through and re-taped. Zipped tied the wire along the existing factory wire harness and fed into the cabin under the rear seat and under the sill plate up the driver side floor/kick panel area. I mounted the main module to the computer with double-sided tape, as this was a good location to get all the pieces plugged in. Ran the GPS wire along this route as well and placed it up on my package tray, right behind the seat backs, centered. Used the supplied Velcro to stick the GPS unit to the package tray cover/carpet. Mounted the speaker up under the dash on the passenger side. Got my keyed power from fuse #33, unused. There are quite a few unused, but this was the first one I found that was keyed power. Put the display between the two main gauges in our cars on the shelf in front of the square display, used double-sided tape. I liked this location as it is a quick glance down to look at it while maintaining speed, less time with eyes off the road. The control is on the shifter console, upper left corner at the split between the console and radio faceplate, it is mounted with double-sided as well.

Just got back from Escort and they swapped out the rear unit and will run test to find out if it was faulty, or if it was something I did. When I removed the rear unit I did notice a hard bend in the wire behind the license plate where it goes through the hole I drilled, wouldn't have thought that would have damaged the wire, but I have beveled/slopped the hole to give it a taper and get away from the 90 degree edge of the hole. Escort has been great to work with and the guy looked over my install and gave it the OK. He has requested pics of my install and info of what I found during my install for future customers of '13-'14 Mustangs.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Shoulda driven over to Valentine and picked up one of theirs instead lol

I looked at the Valentine and also the Escort 9500ix. I decided I didn't want a detector hanging off my mirror. I run a 9500ix off my mirror in my DD but didn't want that style in the Shelby. Valentine doesn't offer a built in unit so I went with the Escort 9500ci.

Thank you for taking the time to share your installation experience - I appreciate it!

Regarding running the wires from the rear into the front of the cabin, did you have to remove both the sill and kickplate plastic trim to route the wires? Or did you just "stuff" the wire(s) under the leading edge of the sill and kickplate? Was there any room to "fish" any of these wires in any portion of the installation other than in the engine bay as you described?

On the display that you installed in between the gauges on the dash, did that not have a wire (e.g. it is not wireless, right)? If it indeed has a wire, how did you hide the wire when placing it in the middle of the gauges on the dash?

Thanks again, Ky GT500!! :)

Anyone own a escort 9500ix? I mistakenly loaded a "speed trap" in 2 area and it now goes off everytime I come through those areas. Anyone know how to cancel a speed trap?

small price to pay for arrows.

I have friends with the Escort and It's nice. I'm just ruined by the arrows now.

Didn't remove either, I took out the rear seat bottom to make it easier to see what I was doing and where I wanted to go with my wires. With the split seat backs, I dropped the driver side to allow me to see/work the wires to where I wanted them. I also removed the one push pin that retains the trim panel below the seat cushion, on the front of the rise from the floor pan. I then started tucking/stuffing the wire along and under the trim panel, sill plate, drivers kick panel, these plates and panels fit so tight against the carpet there is no reason that any wire will work its way out. Working one wire at a time was easier and neater than trying to put them both under together. No need to really "fish" anything, you can pretty much keep your hands on it all throughout the process. I did use a fish wire under the radio/hvac on the tranny hump to get my power and speaker wire from one side to the other,,, other than that, no other "fishing" done.

The display is wired, if you feel at the back of that little shelf against the gauges, there is a space between the shelf and the face. I pulled the whole trim piece/shelf out just a bit in order to drop the connector down between it. The wire falls right out and you just run it to the module and plug it in, zip tying it up, out of the way The wire is black, so it hides back in the darkness of the area. There may be a inch or so of the wire even there, I set the display back away from the front edge so as to really not see it if you casually look into the car.

+1. I can live without my wife but I can't live without the arrows.:rolling:

I've had V1 all my life, but it's time to change...the V1 will not save you from a laser encounter...I got caught going 87mph on a 65mph, yes the V1 went off...but the cop had me. Have a 9500ci in my house and will be doing the install next week, for laser encounters you need the jammer.

Regards,

Manuel

BTW, I will be selling my V1 with the blend mount and hard wire cables.

I love how on every car forum. Every time someone brings up an escort detector, 3 more people bring up the "shoulda bought a V1 instead." I'm sorry, show me where V1 makes a fully integrated radar detector, laser jammer, GPS enabled unit all together.

Ill wait...

....yup they don't.

V1 is a nice unit. I've owned a v1, an 8500 X50, and a 9500ci. The 9500 was the best unit I've ever had

HaHa No don't know how you cancel that, but a call into Escort will surely get you the answer. I called in before I purchased my 9500ix and the guy I spoke with was straight up and answered all my questions. I switch between the '04 and '13...and have been surprised several times now how I missed the smokey visually, including one unmarked who was in "in the trees", it was fun looking around for him...I kept saying where is he? Is this thing malfunctioning? Yep just as I was passing him I saw where he was hiding. Backed up 30-40 feet off the road in the tree line! lol Without the detector I never would have seen him. Traffic cams, speed cams, marked locations...I would recommend the 9500ix to anyone, having hang off the windshield or rear view mirror doesn't bother me a bit.

I'm definitely jealous of a custom installed piece that's integrated. I have no idea how people drive a performance car without radar detectors. Traffic laws and LEOs are increasingly strict. Radar detector+ Waze App= whole new driving experience.

Post pics of that install!

I did the coke/pepsi challenge with both V1 and 9500ix for 30 days driving my DD . I'm now running the 9500 with NO regrets. Damn good device!
