engine pinging

My engine has a pinging, when my hood is up and you listen to the moter it sounds like it is mising, but when it is at low rpm in over drive it sond like exhaust leak, went to ford they told me it was the injectors opening and closing is this true or do i have a problem?:-?

Injectors sound like 'ticking', not pinging. Many Ls make this ticking sound and if you move the throttle up and down from idle(while standing in front of the L) slowly, you should hear the ticking rise and fall with the rpms. If so, nothing to worry about.

Now what you describe as "missing" or an "exhaust leak" may be a loose spark plug. Several have reported plugs working loose and then, blowing out. There are only 4-5 threads holding the plugs in the aluminum heads.

Also, look at #3 coil-pack and see if any coolant has been leaking from a hose down on to that coil. Several have reported this leak, causing the coil to ground out and cause a miss.
