Engine Assembly question.

When you guys assemble your engines from shortblock form, do you install oil pan or front cover first?

I am trying to figure out how to best apply the RTV to the oilpan gasket that meets the front cover. Should I install oilpan and RTV just the rear section and then RTV the rest when I install the front cover? Or install the front cover first and then RTV the oil pan front and back together?

Either way works. I think technically you put the front cover on first then the pan by the book but it really doesn't matter. Don't forget a few dabs of rtv behind the front cover at the head/block interface also.
