Well I was out today and decided to stop by and grab another sample of E85 for testing. I use Quickfuel's E85 Tester to test the amount of Ethanol in the fuel I buy. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/QFT-36-E85/ Thus far it has always come out to "True" E85 or 85% Ethanol. (Even in the Winter here in Texas) This time I thought I would post up some pictures to show you how I do it. It is really very easy. The QFT E-Checker can help the racer calibrate their air/fuel mixture. Using the E-Checker takes only a few moments and is simple to use. First you add water to the first line on the E-Checker and then pour in the E85 sample to the second line. The ethanol absorbs the water and the gasoline floats on top revealing a definitive boundary. This boundary will lie in the area of the E-Checker that is graduated giving you the percentage of ethanol in the E85 fuel. The glass E-Checker comes with it's own durable carrying case to keep it safe in any toolbox. Here is what I came up with today. As you can see the definite line is at the 85% mark meaning "True E85" Just thought I would share. Edit: Oh E85 was $2.11 per gallon today. :dancenana:
