My gf's brother is having problems with his daughter's viper 90R quad. It is able to move forward in the neutral position but when you put it to the F for forward it dies and the same for reverse. I read about shifter motors but why would it work in neutral and not forward or reverse? If anyone...

Sounds like the primary clutch is always engaged and no releasing.
Clutch is binding or a broken spring.
