E-Brake Cable Removal problems

Hey, Im currently removing all calipers to paint. I have to get the e-brake cable loose and am not sure how it's done. Can someone inform me as to how it is done? Thanks

I usually get a pair of vise grips and clamp the cylinder part. Then I pull the end towards me and out of the hole.

so remove c-clip and pull cable out toward rear of car and then remove from the lever? I tried this before posting my first question but it was acting like it didnt have enough cable to pull out. I'll try again in the morning. Thanks for the pic.
