how in the blazes do you open this thing!!!

2002 factory cover
has the pull straps on teh back, but I cannot find a release under neaath

Im gonna go visit the Ford dealer today, Im at a complete loss on this stupid thing..

if it's the factory cover you should be able to just pull the taps and peel it right up. It's basically a groove locking system, but doesn't really lock, just pulls tight together when you fold all the edges down, but again, if it's the factory cover, you should be able to just peel it up no problem, not sure you can really even damage it peeling it up either.

im afraid im gonna break it, pulling back and up and does not release

it is the factory ford cover

Trust me you won't break it. Matter of fact, just grab the tabs and pull them up and back towards the cab of the truck. don't even reall have to pull them out, just peel it back that's all. The "tongue and groove" style locking seem is actually plastic threaded into the canvis top, it will not break on you. You can even lift one at a time, grab a tab and peel it back, will come right out.

It also helps if it's a warm day out. Maybe let it sit in the sun for a little bit.
