Hi I have a 01 with 25k on it and has cold rattle type noise. It happens around 2500 rpms when shifting. Once up to temp seems to go away. Is this a common problem and do I need to worry about it. What is the noise timing chain tenshioner? :??: thank you.

Probably piston slap...if it goes away at op temp. 2500 rpms is about right, but mine does it regardless of the shift. Disappears in about 5 minutes. My car has had it for years. Now 60K on the clock. If in doubt have it checked out.

On a side note...if you are new to New Edge Cobras be sure to watch your oil level religiously. Rod bearings don't like to be oil starved. Many in here run 7 qts of oil...not the the 6 qts speced by Ford. Do a search for more information.

No way is a rod bearing. Makes no noise at all when up to temp. Got to be timing chain or piston slap. Seems like I have other people have this cold nois e out of there dohc before. Anyway thanks for you input. If anyone else has this noise please post it. Thanks guys.
