Not much sounds better or meaner to me than a cammed C6 / C7....and I am as far from a Vette guy as you can get.
kick ass love when I can contribute lol. BTW who cares about an old thread, like people don't search for things, its not to know your not alone with frustration with ford lately.
My apologize for bring up an old thread. Shame if it has to be stopped, great subject. Sorry guys, no intentions to upset anyone just wanted to learn about what others have noticed as well. Looking over the rules, believe we are on the topic, there are a few guys picking on me on the subject but thats to be expected. It seems subjective if the mods want to look at this as being not worthy of a good subject, personal IMO as it seems with others too, it is a good subject. There is more information on the subject including guys running f150 cams which is resulting in different sounds as well as mid mufflers. Anyway it can be closed if you want just would be a shame imho.
12. Bringing old threads and polls back to the top is prohibited. The definition of “old” will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the SVTP staff. If you cannot reasonably infer what constitutes an “old thread” ask a moderator.
My rule of thumb is 2-3 months at the most. Everyone is different and also the section and/or topic plays a part.
Im pretty sure its partly due to the firing order and even more due to the mufflers being at the end of the system. All other cars sound so much better with the mufflers ahead of the rear axle/tailpipes.
No, I don't think the coyote sounds as good as the 4.6L or the old short block stuff, but it doesn't sound "bad"....just not as good.
Im biased but I agreethis, I think the 4.6/5.4 stuff has a sound that's nearly impossible to beat, hard to compete against it. Also seems like some of the demographic buying the coyote cars seem to go for volume which rarely also sounds good. There were quite a few people that put the SLP stuff on new edge cars and I thought they sounded like ass too
Im biased but I agree
Meh....cammed 302 5.0 with LTs FTW in my book.
A stock head baby cam 5.0 will not make a ton of power. They were 225 stock at the flywheel.will have to listen when I get home, I loved my gen 2 with nothing more than a big magnaflow dual in/out
sounds great but I have to admit I like it less after seeing a fox with like a B cam, full exhaust etc... make low-mid 200s on the dyno. Now it's somewhat the sound of disappointment lol (this dyno day was around 12-15 years ago so my memory may be off slightly but I remember being surprised in a bad way at the numbers as healthy as it sounded)

This car made ~260/300 if I recall

Muffler after the axle will do that. Doesn't give the exhaust any chance to self resonate and mellow out before exciting like the Muffler location a fox/sn chassis does.
The coyotes all sound raspy to me. Most 5.bros like it though. Nothing beats a good ol 2v with a good setup.
Check out his fly by at 12:30, it's sounds pretty badass...Kooks 1 3/4" long tubes, Kooks 3" X pipe and 3" Dynomax race bullets.Honestly I’m also concerned about how my Coyote swapped ‘93 Cobra will sound. It had a baby cam modded 302 with a Prochamber to 2-chamber Flowmaster exhaust and I could listen to that car for days.
Part of the S197/S550 cars is muffler placement, but I’m going Prochamber to Borla XS mufflers for the Coyote Cobra. Also going to make an H-style connection under the IRS to duplicate the exhaust that was on my ‘04 Cobra.
Only time will tell.
Gotta love the modern performance, but can’t help but miss the old school rumble.
