Just as the thread title states, do you have a record collection from when vinyl was it ? Do you still play some weekly or monthly ?
I know everyone has a cd player and cd collection and I'm sure some still some still rock tapes and or mini discs, but many love the sound of records and still use them today.

I dont play any cd's or records myself but my 50 year old Mother has about 100 records and a nice record player she still uses along with her cd's. She also insists on having a separate amplifier Vs. a receiver.
She has about every Jimmy Buffet records there is and also all the Cd's, I gotta say I rather listen to the records, they just sound richer.

Still have Caruso on single-sided 78 RPM RCA Victor records. I used to have an Edison wax cylinder phonograph, but it was stolen several years ago. But yes, I still play my 33's...

I have an old JVC TT with a nice Shure Cart and I love to crack out the vinyl.

Im starting to collect the stuff I really really love. I think its great that a lot of the new bands are putting out vinyl as well. The price hurts a bit but if Im still playing a CD that Ive had for 10 years that qualifies as re-purchasable.

yep, my dad collects records(dealer) so i naturally did as well at one point, used to be big in to it.. it's cool cause it creates a different sound IMO.. kinda a lost art cause everything is so replaceable and disposable with all this digital encoding..

bought Iggy Thump(White Stripes) on vinyl..and i've got old NIN and RATM among others..sealed never played.. along with some beatles, zeplin, hendrix, etc..

dad has a rare import of the Beatles Yesterday and Today that's worth about $1,200. he paid about 200 for it..

I have been a huge collector of vinyl (45's and 12 inch singles mostly) and at least once a month I spend a few hours downing drinks and spinning the classic hits on my Technics 1200 turntable.......

I used to be an "Audiophile" before CD's came out. Still have my Thorens turntable and SME tonearm. Never got rid of my record collection so I occasionally play a few.

Now my "listening room" is filled with car parts:-D

I have all of my mom's old records from when she was in high school. I have always wanted to buy a record player for up here at school so I can rock out, but no such luck yet.

KC and the sunshine band  How old is that technics ? And how does the light and timing marks work ? Are they supposed to look like there not moving or something ? Or is that light just supposed to flicker light around a little bit ?

^^^Good to hear from ppl who enjoy a good sounding vinyl record...

I bought the turntable (2 of them) in 1996 brand new from The Good Guys audio/video store......Retail was somewhere between $400-$500.....

When the platter is stopped....there are rows of dots...
The "strobe" red lamp illuminates the dots. When the dots appear to be stationary that means the platter is rotating exactly at 33 1/3 RPM or 45RPM depending on speed selection.....When the pitch is increased (+) The dots will move clockwise....the higher the pitch , the faster the speed the dots will move.....Just the opposite happens when lowering the pitch....

For a system that is strickly utilized for music that combo is best....I also have a separate pre-amp/amplifier setup as well.......Adcom GFA-5500 is a proven amp. I bought the Adcom components in 1996 and believe it or not....They still produce that same model (GFA-5500)....

I threw my turn table out 20 years ago. My folks still have theirs, every once in a while my old man will crank up some old mo-town.
