Starting taking apart the Cobra today to replace timing chain guide and possibly a tensioner. Got a good deal disassembled. Car is equipped with a Metco 2# lower pulley kit, and while trying to unbolt the crank idler pulley bracket, we broke an allen headed socket off. I had no idea this bolt would be so tight into the engine block!

Any ideas or thoughts on how to get these bolts to break free without constantly snapping allen head sockets????

Not sure what brand you are using but that could be the difference. I think I have like one set of Snap on allen sockets and the rest are some cheaper brand and I have broken a few.

Flipside is I havent snapped or stripped the head of the bolt because the socket lets go instead. It also seems like the shock of the socket breaking usually breaks the bolt loose.

Going to try to get a better grade/brand of allen head socket tomorrow and see if that does the trick.
