Affirmative Action is not solely relegated to blacks in America, so I'd say no.

How do you justify that? One of their own is the president; therefore, we aren't "holding a brotha'" down anymore.

We were NEVER holding the brotha down during affirmative action...spend a single day on a college campus or better yet the Social Services office and you'll see what I mean.-It is the definative illustration of people who make B.S excuses for not looking for a job and being lazy.

-Of course there is a certain ... tiny percentage of people who actually NEED and DESERVE these "benefits"

-I do see your point in the "not holding a brotha down anymore remark though.

How are these not regular people. they are not regular because they did for themselves. They are still African American they were still born in America and they had the same chances ANYONE else has in the US.

AA will never die, neither is it for a certain race or group, What about "legacy" , if your daddy went to harvard then harvard will give you more consideration even if you arent as qualified, i dont know what you guys consider that but I call it AA

should people have excuses for their failures? Hell no

do we still live in a racially charged nation? Hell yea

Ah, so it's just a cover up, huh? :nonono:

I'm seriously staggered at the lack of knowledge regarding the most basic American policies by some people. AA serves benefits social & historical minorities in the workplace and education. This does not simply mean blacks, it means all racial minorities, women, etc. Black Americans are often the posterchildren for AA but are often not the largest benefactors of the policies.

For once, we agree on something lol.

thats right. Women, historically have profited the most from AA, not one particular race.

This is the best point made in this thread.

Also a very good point.

AA isn't just for one specific racial or ethnic group. Asians, African Americans, Women, any marginalized group benefits from AA.

I see the role of AA starting to decline but for the close future I don't see it dying off either.
