Detroit Locker

How streetable is a detroit locker (for a daily driver).
I presently have an Eaton 31 spline in my rear, now, but want all the torque and power to the wheels w/o having to worry about a rebuild.

what will I notice with the DL?

extreme tire wear, noise and a chance of axle failure around corners with too much gas....

I heard that the newer detroit lockers are a bit more forgiving when it comes to locking after turns...I also heard that if you buy a cheap one, it will be noisier, engage harsher, etc. I already have Moser 31 spliners in there, so I doubt there will be a problem with breakage.
