I was asked if I would detail a car that was painted with gloss paint and not clear. Do I do the same steps as if the car was cleared or do I need to use special products and/or technique?

Single stage is pretty much the same as regular paint. The major difference has to do with the type of paint, and unlike base coat. clear coat you are going to see paint transfer from polishing on the pads. A good rule of thumb would be to check the thickness of the paint before getting to aggressive with the polisher.
I was worried about that so i think Im going to do it by hand. He just wants a nice wash, polish, and wax anyway.
