Got this from a couple of forums. Thought i would share this with you guys. Plz do not start a flame war(like this is going to help :rollseyes )

AutoWeek tested the Z06 for the Sep 5 issue. They interviewed Dave Hill after the drive, and he had a few interesting thing to say IMO.

Dave: "What do you think"
AW: That question is like a student asking a teacher how he did on a test which he stole the answers. A Plus Dave!

AW: talking about the Nurburgring test.....(2nd fastest production car ever tested on N-Ring)
Dave: The goal was to build a car owners could drive on any closed circuit and not have to worry that "anything would leave you in the dust, even if it cost 5 or 6 times more money"

AW: Hill is being modest when he comments...
Dave: " Our benchmark car was the Porsche 911 Turbo - that's the car we purchased and have present whenever we're doing and importand assessment" "We also have a Viper, but we knew we were going to leave the Viper far behind," he adds fighting to suppress the hint of a mischievous schoolboy smile tugging at his mouth.

AW: Carbon ceramic brakes would improve performence even further, but Chevy won't offer them until it can do so at a "resonable" price.

Dave: the development team did not think the Z06 needed an interior upgrade given the car "would come in substantiallt less expencive than the Viper, but with substantially more performence and refinement" He acknowledges that "might not have been the right thinking, but we didn't want to get the car too pricey"

Dave: the car has a distinctive rattle from the shifter detract from an otherwise livable environment. "we could have fixed the noise w/ a different clutch, but the loss of acceleration performence was too severe"

AW: Corvette haters will point to such idiosyncrasies as evidence the Z06 does not measure up to the world's best packages, but ask them again after they drive the car.

AW: talking about the "Blue Devil" suspected to be running around N-Ring
Dave: "There are no running prototypes." whether it arives in form of a 6 figure limited edition or C7 Z06, "There are going to be better Corvettes than this." :burnout:

Corvette's are still fairly economical when you're considering the power its making and the "gas sucking" nature pushrod engines have (Well, least according to those Honda boys anyway).

Hopefully, the corvette may become the supercar benchmark in the future? (if these gas prices dont kill it :( )
The new z gets 28mpg on the freeway
