My dad passed away before I turned two years old. Here's a few pictures of his car back in the day.

I think I know why I love these types of cars now. :rolling:

Cool pics, brings back alot of memories. One of the first cars I drove was a 1981 Turbo T/A I thought it was a rocket especially with the lights on the hood on the turbo bump.......

Thanks. What about the tail pipes? It's an Axleback Exhaust system from Pypes. I think there aren't other options for the fitment? I will be getting my oil changed soon and a multi-point inspection on the car. I'll ask about the Pypes.

Were both cars (z28 and ta) his?

Yes sir

Had my share of Fs as well. They were hot stuff back then. I had a 1970 Camaro SS and a 1974 Trans Am that had a 1970 GTO 400 under the hood.

I've also had other Mustangs, a 1968 coupe 289, a 1979 Ghia 5.0 notch and a 1988 LX 5.0 hatch I owned for 13 years and raced for 10. Now the 2012 GT, which kicks all their asses, even the old 5.0 that had a power adder.

Life's good these days. Looks like yours is too and you have a good sense of how symbolic cars can be in a person's life.

The tail pipes seem to be sticking out to much. I have seen that with a few axle backs and the 2013+ cars.

Those sound like awesome rides. I'll get into quarter mile stuff hopefully sometime in the near future.

They do, but I think that's normal for the setup.

Dude that z is a 77 somewhat rare only 14,000 built 1st year back since 74. No z28 in 75'@76 steel body colored bumpers big sticker on hood. 78 had hood scoop and plastic bumpers.i bought a silver one in 87 when i was 20 from a buddys mom, people talk about how slow those cars were (175 hp) when i got it it was all stock down to the cats.old high schhool auto shop teacher that played with hemi's and the likes in the 60's helped me tune her up,run up the timing, headers and 2.5 duels dropped at axel and most important fatter jets in the ol quadrajet.stock turbo 350 trans and 342 10 bolt posi, 14.2 quarter mile consistant. Would where out gt's and hang with notchback's. Built over 100,000 z's in 78 and 79 so the 77 is somewhat collectible. Okay im done just brings back good times

The reason the pypes "muffler delete" axle backs stick out so much is because they can kick flame and you don't want that burning your bumper.
