I would like to hear everyones personal experiences and favorite cruise trips and ships they went on? Also, have you been on more than one and why is one better than the other?

I have been lucky, as I am only 18 and have been on 4 cruises. My first was a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas. I have also been on a cruise around Alaska, back to the Bahamas, and another around the Caribbean. I guess a lot would depend on what you want to see/do while on your cruise, and also if you have any kids or not. I think Carnival is realitively cheap, so there are usually quite a few kids (my age and younger) so that may or may not be for you. All four cruises we have stayed in inner cabins w/o the balconies and all that jazz as we would spend most of the time out of the room, and only sleeping in the rooms. I can't really say that I would recommend one cruise line over another though, as they all have their ups and downs.

One thing to keep in mind with most cruises is that (alcoholic) drinks are not included in the price of the cruise. You may want to check into all-inclusive resorts instead, as they will let you drink as much as you want. Sorry about the random thoughts in my post, but if you have any more questions just ask.

I am also lucky as I am 18 just like the poster above me, I've been on 3 cruises all the bahamas, in different rooms on carnival, the big red boat, and again the carnival. They are all good and I would recomend going for a cruise 4 nights or longer just because of how long it takes to get familiar with the ship. The bahamas aren't really that great, pretty dirty and very touristy, if I were you and are dieing to go the bahamas, just fly there and spend your money on a room at Atlantis on paradise island. Its very exspensive yet very worth it. And stay away from the tourist traps if you want some good places to go hit me up in a pm.

There are plenty of cruise liquidators that discount cruises dramatically. Carnival is the bottom of the barrel, cheap crusie lines.

I recommend Royal Carribean.

Royal Carribean . I have been on many cruise ships but have only taken one Cruise. As a Coast Guard Boarding Officer I have been on numerous ships. After seeing the Explorer of the Seas (Royal Carribean) I had to take the plunge. It was by far the best Vaca I have ever had. and to some posters here. Free Alcohol isn't why people take cruises. and besides. Its realy not all that expensive on board. Hell I drank cheaper on the ship then I could out in Boston.

I agree Carnival is cheap, however, they are still very nice. Royal Carribean was the cruise line I was on in Alaska and it was very nice. The best thing to do would be to talk to a travel agent and ask them if there are specific cruises that are 21+.

Carnival may be cheap, but the one I took was a LOT of fun...

Wouldn't mind taking a Royal Carribean for all of the good things I hear about them though.

I was on the Carnival Destiny which was (not sure if it still is) the second biggest ship in the fleet. Very nice... I was on it for 7 days. Umm, food was great. The midnight buffet was excellent, and it was just a great trip. Shows, shopping, bars, casino, video games, everything you'll ever need.

Edit: and good doctors.. a lady died on the ship (coded) and they brought her back to life.. I thought that was pretty impressive, it isn't easy work.

Royal Carribean is top of the heap (or at least it was before the last corporate merger). Of the 6 cruises I've taken, the best was RC to Alaska. Great ship (clean and well maintained, beautiful furnishings), great food, great entertainment, attentive crew, personable and courteous staff. Two highlights: the captain used the thrusters to rotate the ship so that everyone could get a good view of glaciers calving without jockeying for position; and a Taiwanese businessman chartered the ship's boat to do some Salmon fishing. I asked one of the crew, jokingly, to chip off a piece of glacier ice for me to put in a drink. When the boat returned, they bought a big chunk of glacier ice and served drinks to a bunch of us. Later that evening, the Taiwanese businessman treated our table to fresh Salmon he had caught.

Actually, I've enjoyed all my cruises, including Norwegian Cruise Lines, Princess and Carnival. Each brand has a different persoanlity. Ya gotta be flexible and open-minded.

My g/f and I took a cruise to the bahamas in Jan. 5day/4night and we paid under 400 a person.

We sailed on their smallest ship, Soveriegn of the Seas, and it was very nice.

We had a cabin with a window and it was great.

We are planning more cruises as moolah allows.

I've been on two and yaked my brains out :xpl: Just don't have sea legs. Hell I even took something to prevent motion sickness. Would have been fun if I wasn't in the fetal position while out at sea.

Been on both Royal Carribean and Carnival. Both are good. I think Royal Carribean was slightly better but I think the food on Carnival was better. Going on another one in a few months. Five day cruises are perfect. Longer than that and you start wanting to get back home.
