It's a lot to read but I do agree that C.L. has gone down the drain over the years. They used to be the best sound card out there during the beginning of 16-bit and AWE32 days. Now their software sucks entirely.

Yup CL was awesome until i got Vista. I ended up getting a new motherboard with onboard sound (realtek 6.1 ftw).

I'm running a X-Fi card on Vista 32bit with no issues :shrug:

Creative Labs stuff is JUNK.

I was part of that crowd who had major "crackling sound" issues on the SoundBlaster X-Fi cards. After two years of no fixes and getting the runaround from Creative, I got rid of it. Turns out it was just a poor design of the card that was causing the problem.

I switched to an Auzentech card which basically uses the same X-Fi chipset and haven't had any problems since.

Stay away from Soundblaster crap.
