This brings back memories...
Back in the day while in high-school/university my brothers and I worked summers in a structural steel fab shop. There were always plenty of 45 gallon drums from red oxide primer or valspar paint thinner. They made good stands for welding or tacking small pieces.
You just had to remember to screw in the plug for the bunghole.
One of my younger bros forgot while stud welding on an 'empty' solvent barrel. Blew up a barrel, himself and the shop foreman. Impressive blast zone but luckily just minor injuries.
Valuable lesson learned by all. There's no such thing as empty. Always fumes left.
Why a half empty gas tank will explode and a full will not.
