i used castrol 5w-30. you don't want to use a synthetic oil because it wont let the motor break in properly. i changed at 500 miles then another 1000 miles then another 1500 miles. so at a total of 3000 miles i went to royal purple.

this is about what i did

i used regular oil 5w-30 for 500 miles then changed it. changed it again 1500 miles later. then at 5k miles (total miles) went to full syn i use mobil one. royal purple seems to cause a lot of chatter with some ohc engine with lash adjusters.

do your research on that

Yea regular 5w30. Let the fresh motor idle for about 20 minutes. Or till reaching operating temp. Then change your oil 500 miles later change it again. After that get on a regular basis or oil changes and you'll be fine. I just did this exact thing worked for me
